Tour Door County: Baileys Harbor
A little quieter than the rest of the county, Baileys Harbor offers a place for relaxation. Located on the Lake Michigan side of the peninsula, it’s a quaint little village that offers the peace and quiet that so many people are seeking. Easily located on Hwy 57, the entirety of the town is within walking distance.
Be sure to catch a Door County League baseball game at the ball park. Spend your lazy Sunday afternoon watching the local guys put down their hammers and other trade jobs to play like the big leaguers. A family friendly gathering complete with concession stand and playground make you think you’ve stepped back to when life was simpler.
Looking to spend some time on the water? Charter fishing is what Baileys Harbor does best. There are four locally run charter boats located at the Baileys Harbor Yacht Club & the town marina. They run 3 trips a day to accommodate the demand for high quality salmon fishing in Door County. Definitely a fun way to spend the day on beautiful Lake Michigan.
Take a walk on the natural side! Go discover the beauty of the Ridges Sanctuary. See native species of flora & fauna that we locals sometimes take for granted. Even just walking down Ridges rd can be an experience. Look for Yellow or Showy Lady slippers or the beautiful Trilliums. Ridges Sanctuary is home to 25 species of native orchids.
